DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Arthur County School District is an accredited Class II school located in the remote village of Arthur, Nebraska, including a High School and Elementary School. Arthur County is the least populated county in Nebraska; the district encompasses 746 square miles. Due to the enormity of the boundaries and the distance to the next closest school district(35 miles) many of our students have lengthy commutes to attend school; fifty percent of the students travel at least 20 miles each day. Small class sizes have provided the district with some decided benefits. More than 90% of graduates over the past five years have pursued some form of post high school education. A full time administrator serves as Superintendent/Elementary Principal, and Our High School Principal/AD is at 80% time. The staff of Arthur County Schools includes 19 teachers, teachers in each subject area have been involved in all phases of the assessment process including developing, piloting, and revising assessments.
