DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT

A major factor in the quality of life of the people living in the communities of Albion and Petersburg is the quality of the public school system. Unique to the Boone Central Schools has been the ability of teachers to integrate units of instruction into an existing broad curriculum from our 80 acre Olson Nature Preserve and our community business partners such as the Albion banks, the Good Samaritan Wolf Memorial Home, and the Boone County Historical Society. Place-based instruction coordinated to state standards in the Boone Central Schools strengthens the school connection to the families, farms, and businesses that support the school. The variety and depth of Boone Central class offerings and special education opportunities give evidence that a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum is at the heart of the school system. The past three years have seen the development of our Career Academy in which students are able to spend time in local businesses and service areas.
