DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Riverside Public Schools was created on August 1, 2014 as a result of the merger of the Cedar Rapids and Spalding Public School Districts. The new district encompasses the communities of Spalding, Primrose, Cedar Rapids, and parts of Belgrade—approximately 273 sq. miles. Riverside is led by a 9-member Board of Education. Both Spalding and Cedar Rapids house PK-5 students, Spalding site is also host to all 6-7-8 middle grades, while the district’s 9-12 students aattend at the Cedar Rapids site. Riverside 6-12 students are 1:1 with Mac Laptops and the district promotes 21st Century learning through technology integration at all levels. Students at Riverside enjoy a variety of extra-curricular activities with almost 85% of our high school students participating in at least one organization or activity. Riverside fairs well on the NeSA with Reading proficiency of 94% and Math and Science at 88% proficiency for all grades tested 3-8 and 11. Our enrollment runs around 235 for PK-12.
