DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Kearney Public Schools is located in central Nebraska serving a population of approximately 5,400 students - Prekindergarten – 12 in 1 high school, 2 middle schools, 10 elementary schools, and 1 Preschool building. Afterschool-school programming is available at most elementary and at 1 middle school sites. KPS test scores are consistently above state and national averages. Curricula aligns with state academic standards. Student progress is measured through MAP testing on an ongoing basis. Technology is ample to support instruction, using the latest equipment and teacher training. A majority of certificated staff members hold advanced degrees. Parents are highly supportive and engaged at KPS. Three Kearney schools have received the national Blue Ribbon Award.
