DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools is a Class III rural district serving 350 students in grades PreK-12. This number is slightly less than half of district students eligible; the remainder attend private schools serving other school districts as well. Ninety-nine percent of all 8th graders go on to graduate from high school. The last follow-up study of recent graduates indicate that 90% attend post-secondary training. Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools is proud of its excellent facility featuring Smartboards in every classroom, a remodeled gym, lunch room and newly renovated classrooms. Students and teachers are proud of the state and national recognition they have received in recent years for being a school of character and a school of wellness. HNPS looks to the future with enthusiasm, excitement, and anticipation. The school system has established high goals and expectations and utilizes the latest educational techniques as well as computer technology.
