DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Northwest Public School is a Class B school district serving students in and around the city of Grand Island with approximately 1450 students in grades PreK-12. The Northwest District serves students in six attendance centers. Those sites include our preschool at the Lockwood building; K-5 building Chapman; K-8 buildings 1-R, Cedar Hollow, and St. Libory and Northwest High School, a 9-12 building. Along with students who live in the district a number of students from outside of the district take advantage of the opportunities available in the Northwest schools through option enrollment. The high school has a full range of academic and career-technical courses. Two foreign languages are offered along with advanced placement classes, engineering, health science and agriculture. Students may also enroll and receive dual credit for classes at Central Community College or through UNL or UNK. Students from Northwest consistently rank above the state and national average on the ACT.
