DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Hitchcock County School District is located in Southwest Nebraska just West of McCook near Swanson Reservoir in the communities of Culbertson and Trenton. The two former districts of Culbertson and Trenton merged in June of 2008 to form Hitchcock County. The central offices and the secondary school are located in Trenton and the elementary school is located in Culbertson. Hitchcock County Schools are accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education and offers a wide range of curriculum offerings and athletic options. In 2011 Hitchcock County Jr/Sr High School was named a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon school for academic excellence. In 2015 Hitchcock Elementary was named a Distinguished Title One School because of the academic gains the school had achieved.
