DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Mullen School District is a Class III K-12 District encompassing an area of 1,383.8 sq. miles, including all of Hooker Co., 520 sq. miles of Cherry Co. and 72 sq. miles of Thomas Co. The school was established by the community for the purpose of developing efficient, responsible citizens. To meet these needs, the school has adopted the Nebraska Standards and Assessment system. A staff of eight elementary teachers have been trained through ESU #16. The secondary staff includes 15 teachers with those in particular content areas also receiving extensive training. All staff members have participated in training sessions for Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies provided by the service unit leadership. Mullen experiences little student mobility and low staff turnover thus creating a very personal and positive learning environment. The school also participates in the NWEA MAP tests, the Work Keys test and the PLAN test.
