Fairbury School District had a PreK-12th grade population of 934 students at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. Students are divided into a PreK-2 building; a 3-6 building and a 7-12 building. All buildings are located in the city of Fairbury, which has a population of 3942. Fairbury is a rural community located in the southeastern part of Nebraska along the banks of the Little Blue River. It was founded in 1869. Fairbury is the county seat of Jefferson County.
