DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
McPherson County School District is a rural Class III District located in the Sandhills 30 miles from North Platte. The District houses under 100 students in grades K-12 on two campuses, elementary and secondary. Due to the small size, staff members are extremely aware of students' skills, needs, interests, and accomplishments. Elementary reading and math instruction is ability grouped. High school courses include all traditional academics and CTE courses with an emphasis on agriculture and welding. Assessments include MAP, ASVAB, ACT, and NeSA. High school students also participate in all traditional extra-curricular activities such as football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track, golf, cross country, speech, One Act, and NHS. Community involvement is strong, and policies include excusing absences for helping family businesses such as ranching.
