DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
The city of Mitchell is located in the western panhandle of Nebraska just fifteen miles from the Wyoming state line. It is nine miles west of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The Mitchell School District is legally described as School District 31 Scott sBluff County, Nebraska. Mitchell is a Class III school organized as PK-6 elementary and 7-12 secondary, serving students in portions of Scotts Bluff and Sioux counties. The total enrollment is approximately 680 students. The district covers approximately 154 square miles. Mitchell Public Schools in partnership with the community will empower all students to be life long learners and caring responsible citizens. Mitchell has the current School Improvement goals of improving student and teacher technology for increased educational opportunity and the strengthening of Language Arts skills. This mission statement was revisited and revised in the 2014-15 year.
