Sioux County Schools is a Class III school district serving grades K-12 with an enrollment of less than 100 students. Four elementary schools (Chalk Butte Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Panhandle Elementary, and Pink Elementary) and Sioux County High School serve the needs of the county's students. Sioux County Schools are located in Sioux County, Nebraska. Harrison with a population of 280 is the county seat and only town in the county. The town is located in the Northwest corner of the panhandle of Nebraska, 13 miles from Wyoming and 20 miles from South Dakota. The main shopping centers in the immediate area are Chadron (50 miles East) and Scottsbluff (65 miles South). The school district serves the sixth largest county in area in Nebraska. Sioux County is an isolated rural area with ranching and farming being the main economy of the county. Approximately 1/2 of the students live in Harrison and 1/2 live in the county.
