DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Wheeler County is home to two small communities, Bartlett and Ericson, as well as many ranches and farms. Most of Wheeler Central's students and staff call the country their home. There are three buildings that comprise the district all located in Bartlett. The system now instructs 83 students in grades K-12, 17 in pre-school and 10 in daycare. Eighteen certified staff covering levels preK-12, three FTE paras and seven additional classified staff members meet/exceed requirements set forth by the Nebraska State Department of Education. The secondary curriculum also utilizes direct instruction, online instruction, distant learning and a variety of dual credit courses through various colleges. We are also a member of the Northern Tier Consortiuim, a group of ten schools that act as one large school system to write one School Improvement plan including the incorporation of Reading Mastery at grades K-6.
