Riverside Public Schools was created on August 1, 2014, as a result of the merger of the Cedar Rapids and Spalding Public School Districts. Our district encompasses the communities of Spalding, Primrose, Cedar Rapids, and parts of Belgrade—approximately 273 sq. miles. Riverside is led by a 9-member Board of Education. Both Spalding and Cedar Rapids house PK-5 students, Spalding site is also host to all 6-7-8 grades, while the district’s 9-12 students attend at Cedar Rapids. Our 6-12 students are 1:1 with Mac Laptops and the district promotes 21st Century learning through technology integration. Riverside was 1 of only 5 districts who received a rating of Excellent in the initial year of AQuESTT and 1 of 28 in 2018. Many of our graduates leave with 12-18 college credit hours with dual credit class offerings. Students at Riverside enjoy a variety of extra-curricular activities with a high percentage of our high school students participating in at least one organization or activity.
