Alcott Elementary serves over 300 students in Pre-Kindergarten through five. Alcott is a school-wide Title I building, and one of six schools in Nebraska to be recognized as a National PLC Model school each of the past four years on allthingsplc.info for dramatic increases in student performance. Alcott has focused on improving student performance by assisting students as early as possible and providing each student with direct assistance that includes direct explicit instruction. Specialists (physical education, music, and art) work collaboratively with grade-level teachers to identify students and their individual skill levels in reading and math, and use specific reading and math skills in their areas. Alcott also focused on improving student's math performance with many strategies and interventions that include identifying essentials and key concepts, collaborative strategic long-range planning, small group and individualized instruction, and progress monitoring of skills.
