DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


Emerson Elementary serves approximately 220 students in the center of Kearney, Nebraska. It is a two section, K-5 building with a free and reduced lunch rate of 74%. Emerson is highly committed to the social emotional health and well being of its students and involves community volunteers to mentor students one on one or in small groups each week. Emerson works closely with the University of Nebraska at Kearney to both enhance the academic experience of the elementary students as well as work to support and cultivate future educators. Each semester, UNK pre-service students work in Emerson classrooms in the areas of reading, math, and science. Emerson is highly committed to supporting the academic needs of its students, offering speech, language, resource, MTSS, and Title I Reading supports. Emerson’s goal is to give each student the best school experience possible and educate and support each student as a whole child who will grow into a productive and successful citizen.
