DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Kenwood Elementary is located in the SW quadrant of Kearney and was opened in Aug. of 2011 allowing for three units of grades kindergarten through fifth grade. This school and the surrounding Kenwood community continue to strongly support the education and safety of their children. Our priority is on student learning and ensuring that every student is challenged to achieve or exceed grade level expectations. Our highly trained teachers and support staff serve our students' needs through special education programs, reading support programs, and an after school program called Kearney Community Learning Center. At Kenwood, we provide a safe, orderly, respectful environment which promotes high levels of student engagement and performance. Our school focuses also on healthy living by encouraging students to remain active and make healthy eating choices. We hold monthly "Healthy Snack Sales" as a part of our program as well as encourage students to walk in the gym in the mornings.
