DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools at Hartington serves 174 elementary students. Preschool was added to the Hartington site. The Preschool through 3rd grade are self contained classrooms. 4th through 6th grades are departmentalized. Students in grades 1-6 receive art instruction from the secondary art teacher. Weekly guidance occurs in grade K-6. Elementary music and physical education is provided daily for grades K-6. Two Special Education teachers provide services for the elementary. Two staff members provide Title I services and one staff member provides RTI support. Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools is proud of its excellent facility featuring Smartboards in every classroom, a remodeled gym, lunch room and newly renovated classrooms. Students and teachers are proud of the state and national recognition they have received in recent years for being a school of character and a school of wellness.
