DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools at Hartington serves 189 elementary students. The Preschool through 3rd grade are self contained classrooms. 4th through 6th grades are departmentalized. Students in grades 1-6 receive art instruction from the secondary art teacher. Weekly guidance occurs in grade K-6. Elementary music and physical education is provided daily for grades K-6. Two Special Education teachers provide services for the elementary. Two staff members provide Title I services and one staff member provides RTI support. MTSS program has introduced explicit instruction and researched based interventions. Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools is proud of its excellent facility featuring Smartboards in every classroom, a remodeled gym, lunch room and newly renovated classrooms. Students and teachers are proud of the state and national recognition they have received in recent years for being a school of character and a school of wellness.
