DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Gurley, Nebraska is a small rural community located in the Panhandle of Nebraska. Gurley is the site of Leyton Elementary/Junior High school. 133 students attended during the 2015-2016 school year in grades K-8. All elementary classrooms are self-contained. In addition to their standard class offerings, elementary students receive instruction in music (vocal K-3, and vocal and instrumental 4-8), physical education, and science delivered by specialists. Junior high students can participate in activities such as Quiz Bowl and Science Fair as well as sports activities. The faculty of Leyton Elementary/Middle School is quite relatively stable. There are few positions available at the site.
