DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


Leyton Elementary/Junior High School is located in Gurley, Nebraska just north of Sidney. Kindergarten is held all day long, Reading Street is the reading series, and Saxon Math is the math curriculum. In addition to reading, language arts, math, and social studies, elementary students receive instruction from specialists in art, music, PE, computers, science, counseling, and library. Junior high students receive the same, as well as a careers class. JH activities include Quiz Bowl and Science Fair as well as sports activities. An academic eligibility system is enforced. Teachers are very creative, the community is very supportive, and events at the elementary/JH school are frequent, varied, and well attended.
