Broken Bow Public Schools is a Nebraska Class III School district. The district consists of seven educational sites: New Discoveries Preschool, North Park--grades Kindergarten through fifth, Middle school--grades sixth through eight, and the High School--grades nine through twelve. The Broken Bow district covers approximately 426.1 square miles in Custer County. The economic base for the county is mainly agriculture and agriculture based industries. 45 percent of the students enrolled in Broken Bow Public Schools (grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12) qualify for free or reduced meals (2018). 17 percent of the students enrolled in Broken Bow Public Schools (grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12)receive special education services (2018) The racial/ethnic make-up of the Broken Bow District is mainly Caucasian (White, non-Hispanic).
