Sargent, Nebraska is a small town, population of approximately 525, located in the middle of the state along the edge of the Middle Loup River. It is one of the older towns in the area dating back to 1884. The economic base of the community is agricultural with very little industry. Because of that fact, the population has changed very little since 1900. The population base is basically Caucasian with a very small percentage of Hispanic and Asian. The district currently covers nearly 400 square miles.
