DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Harney Elementary is a three-section building, serving students in grades K-5. Our population reflects the diversity found in surrounding neighborhoods. The Harney staff is a committed group of professional educators who work together in Professional Learning Communities to help all students in meeting individual & grade level goals. Teachers and specialists work together to provide students with a high quality education in a positive and caring environment. Classroom curriculum focuses on mastery of NE standards, prioritized at each grade level. Grade level PLC teams also plan intervention time to support students who have not met expected outcomes & those who can extend beyond grade level learning. Individual needs of students are met by a variety of special programs including ELL, SPED services and differentiation. Parent involvement is encouraged through opportunities to participate in classroom activities, school assemblies, and through our home reading program.
