DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Harney Elementary serves approximately 360 students in grades K-5. Our population reflects the diversity of surrounding neighborhoods. Harney staff are committed professional educators working together in Professional Learning Communities to help all students in meeting individual & grade level goals. Teachers and specialists work together to provide students a high quality education in a positive and caring environment. Classroom curriculum focuses on prioritized NE standards, and grade level PLC teams also plan interventions and extended learning opportunities to meet students' individual needs, based on their demonstrated readiness. Unique student needs are met through special programs including EL, SPED, and SAT. Teachers also meet the individual needs of students through the differentiation planned as a result of analyzing formative and summative assessments. Parent involvement is encouraged through opportunities to participate in classroom activities and school assemblies.
