DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


Morton Elementary School serves approximately 321 students in Grades K-1 in self-contained classrooms, 2 ELL Kindergarten Newcomer Classrooms and a 1st Grade Newcomer Classroom. Morton Elementary also offers a Life Skills program for those students who qualify. A balanced curriculum is delivered to ALL students. Direct Explicit Instruction is delivered by high quality, well-trained teachers. All students receive Reading Intervention at their instructional level, Math Intervention is offered to students demonstrating need in the area of Mathematics. A variety of programs and support services are available which include: speech therapy, special education, and counseling. Parents may have their child participate in the after-school Lexington Academy or after school tutoring programs. Teachers and staff work collectively to provide an educational opportunity that reflects the diverse needs of every student and supports the District's mission statement.
