DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Pershing Elementary School serves approximately 275 students in grades 4 and 5. Small classes, averaging 20 students per room, allow teachers to individualize and target instruction for each child. A balanced curriculum is delivered using explicit instruction methods to all students. A variety of programs and support services are available including: ELL Newcomer and Transition rooms, Corrective Reading, High Ability Learner program, and band for 5th grade students. Working with parents, we provide educational opportunities that reflect the needs of every student. Parents may have their child participate in Lexington Academy or after school tutoring, to extend learning opportunities. We utilize a MTSS model to identify and monitor children with learning delays and plan interventions to meet their needs. Teachers meet regularly to review classroom assessments, analyze test results, strategize and plan lessons to improve learning outcomes for our children.
