DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Monroe Middle School is located at 5105 Bedford Avenue in east-central Omaha. It was built in 1926 and was remodeled in 1998. The new building accommodates the middle school philosophy. Besides the regular classroom instruction, Monroe offers its diverse student population a wide range of programs to assist them in their academic growth. These programs include English as a Second Language, Special Education classes, as well as Gifted and Talented classes. The parents and school community members provide volunteer and financial assistance for academic and extracurricular opportunities through the Adopt-A- School program and a very active Booster Club. The spirit and aims of the teachers and students are stated in the Monroe Middle School mission statement: "To be a partnership of school and community committed to academic excellence and personal growth.”
