DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

J. Sterling Morton Magnet Middle School, located at 4606 Terrace Drive in Omaha, opened its doors in 1965. Morton serves a diverse population of 6th through 8th grades. The "Pathway to College Readiness" is the only AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) middle school in the state of Nebraska. This program encompasses school wide WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization & Reading) strategies in addition to providing additional support to about 100 AVID elective students chosen through an application/interview process. Morton's curriculum focuses on providing academic rigor and opportunities for service learning in and out of the classroom.
