DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Boyd Elementary School is located at 8314 Boyd Street in central Omaha. We opened in August 1961 servicing students from Kindergarten through fifth grade. Our programs service a growing student body including Early Childhood Head Start, Pre-Kindergarten, Special Education, English as a Second Language, Gifted Education, and Speech and Language as well as occupational and physical therapy. Through a variety of beyond the school day activities, termed “Extra Specials” Boyd students are encouraged to immerse in the “whole school” experience, regularly participating in district and community academic and problem solving competitions. Parent organizations such as PTA and Uncharted Waters parent group align with community partners to engage with the school and live out the theme, “Honor the Past, Experience the Present and Imagine the Future”, setting the tone and demeanor for engagement in middle school years and beyond as citizens and problem solvers of tomorrow.
