DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Highland Elementary is at 2625 Jefferson Street in Omaha. Our school serves a diverse population in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Highland was established in 1889 to accommodate the growing population in South Omaha, then known as the “Magic City.” Highland has a proud heritage of educating students and being an integral part of the South Omaha community. With instructional practices such as cooperative teaching, response to intervention (RTI), engagement strategies, and ESL support, the staff at Highland strives to meet the needs of all learners. The Parent-Teacher Organization is very involved with the school, providing additional support to the staff and students of Highland. Community partnerships with the KROC Center and UPS also provide support to the school. The mission at Highland Elementary is for all staff, parents, and community members to lead students on the road to a successful future so that students can grow and develop to their fullest potential.
