DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Highland Elementary is at 2625 Jefferson Street in Omaha. Our school serves a diverse population in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Highland was established in 1889 to accommodate the growing population in South Omaha, then known as the “Magic City.” In addition to regular classroom instruction, student support is also provided through special education programs, gifted and talented education, English as a Second Language, and counseling. Extended learning and extracurricular opportunities are offered through tutoring, clubs, and athletics. The Parent-Teacher Organization and Community partnerships with the KROC Center provide additional support to the learning environment. The mission at Highland Elementary is for all staff, parents, and community members to work collaboratively to ensure that each child can grow and develop to his or her fullest potential. WE Prepare. WE Persevere. WE Empower. WE are Highland Roadrunners.
