DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Howard Kennedy Elementary School is located at 2906 North 30 Street. The school was built in 1916 and is named for the first educator to establish a public school system in Omaha. Howard Kennedy was renovated in 2003 under the provision of an extensive bond issue. It currently serves children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade; HeadStart students are also served in this building. Howard Kennedy celebrates diversity. All students are supported in the classroom through the inclusion model. The involvement of parents and community contributes to academic success of students. Student achievement continues to be an important goal. Teachers work closely with students to ensure that each child is challenged to do his or her best each day. Strong support has been provided by business partners who maintain the Partnership for Our Kids program This program recognizes and rewards academic, social, and attendance achievements of our students.
