DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


Morton Magnet Middle School, located at 4606 Terrace Drive in north west Omaha, opened its doors in 1965.  This middle school  became a magnet in 2007, and serves students in fifth through eighth grades as a “Pathway to College Readiness”.  Approximately 200 of the 750 students come from outside the attendance area to participate in specialized curriculum that focuses on academic rigor and service learning. All students learn and apply AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies: writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading.  Morton Magnet also offers students numerous programs for the gifted and talented and special education student.  True to its motto- “Proud to Excel” – staff, parents and community work as a team to provide an educational program that ensures academic success for all Morton Magnet Middle School students.
