DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


Minne Lusa Elementary School, originally called Fort School, is located at 2728 Ida Street in the Florence area of Omaha. The current building opened for the 1924-25 school year and was renovated between 1995 and 1997. It is now a state of the art facility serving approximately 370 students in Early Childhood through fifth grade. Minne Lusa has always been, and continues to be, a focal point of the community it has served. The mission of Minne Lusa Elementary calls for providing “rigorous educational opportunities in a safe and secure environment”. Minne Lusa is actively involved in the Adopt-a-School program, counting among its partners Lozier Corporation, DIBS, Trinity Readers, SpreeTails, and The Minne Lusa Homes Association. The staff, students, parents/guardians, and community work together to provide the students support and a rigorous and engaging education.
