DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Pinewood Elementary School is located at 6717 North 63rd Street. The mission statement calls for working together as a team of staff, students, parents, and community to teach students to become high achievers, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens. Pinewood is home to approximately 280 students in grades pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. Pinewood is the only multiage school in the district, and was honored with the 2006 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon designation. Pinewood has a part-time ESL teacher, special education teacher and dedicated support staff. The academic program for students is greatly enhanced by the use of computers and other technology. Pinewood Elementary has an active Adopt-A-School program that includes Burger King, Clarkson College, Farmers National Company and Runza Restaurant. An active parent teacher association supports Pinewood students and staff.
