DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Sunny Slope Elementary School is located at 10828 Old Maple Road and serves approximately 500 students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade five. The mission statement for Sunny Slope Elementary School stresses the need to “educate all students and to challenge them to their highest level of academic achievement”. It also emphasizes the need to prepare young people to “develop an awareness of and respect for the intrinsic values of cultures that differ from his or her own”. The curriculum focuses on student achievement and providing “differentiated learning experiences” to meet individual student needs. To assist staff in meeting these student needs, special programs and assistance are offered to students. These programs include the Gifted and Talented, English as a Second Language, and Special Education programs. Sunny Slope boasts a supportive parent teacher association (PTA) and Adopt-a-School partners that have been a tremendous assistance throughout the school year.
