DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Wakonda Elementary School is located at 4845 Curtis Avenue. Wakonda gets its name from a Native American word which refers to the “Great Spirit” who was the provider of all things needed for a happy life, including land, rain, and sunlight. At Wakonda, we welcome pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade students everyday. Working together with families and community partners, we work to empower lifelong learners to discover their passions and reach their fullest potential! We focus on strong relationships and rigorous instruction. We offer an extended school day, which allows us to provide our students with interventions and extensions in the classroom to enhance their core learning. Our teachers engage students in PreKindergarten through fifth grade through the use of one to one devices in order to prepare them for their future as 21st Century learners.
