DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

The Career Center, located at 3230 Burt Street, provides a central location for technical instruction for those curricular aspects that require specialized equipment and teaching expertise. The Career Center is an extension of all of the Omaha Public Schools high schools. Students may choose from several electives in areas, such as, auto collision, automotive technology, digital video production, culinary skills, construction, certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, photography, and welding. Well-equipped labs allow students the opportunity to apply their classroom instruction in a realistic setting. Many employers throughout the metropolitan area support the Career Center by participating in advisory groups, serving as class speakers and providing student internships. The Career Center also houses the district’s ESL literacy and newcomer classes for the non-English speaking high school student.
