DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
The UNO/OPS Middle College program is a program that is an option for high ability learners in need of an alternative setting. Students have the ability and talents to be successful, but have become disengaged in the traditional setting due to issues such as academic pace, social disconnects, family concerns or the need for a more flexible schedule. The program is a combined effort between the Omaha Public Schools – Multiple Pathways Division, UNO, and The Sherwood Foundation. The program is located on the UNO campus in Kayser Hall.. The goal is to re-engage the students through small class sizes, rigorous and accelerated instruction, relationship building, university level courses, and the college campus atmosphere. The program offers students flexibility, individualized learning plans, connections to UNO, and the opportunity to take college level courses. The mission is to graduate students and transition them to post secondary opportunities.
