DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Gateway Elementary is located at 5610 South 42nd Street. The building opened in the fall of 2013 receiving students from three surrounding schools. The school has state of the art technology in each classroom. Students also produce and broadcast a live daily morning news show. Gateway showcases outdoor teaching gardens with a rain collection system, which helped the school obtain the status of the only elementary school in OPS to receive LEED Silver certification. Our building includes programs in special education, ESL, Native Indigenous Cultural Education and Gifted/Talented. Gateway serves students in grades K-6, As well as 3 and 4 year olds in seven full day Pre-K classrooms. Currently 3 of these classrooms are located in the new facility and 4 are in the adjacent Early Childhood Center. Our best attribute is the community of parents and teachers who work together to make our students successful. We are proud to be the home of the Gateway Eagles and are “Soaring to Success”.
