DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
The Transition Program Project SEARCH UNMC is located at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. It is a special education program for students in their last year of Transition. Students must have attended Transition and have been nominated by their teachers, applied for the program, completed a skills assessment and interview to be selected to attend. These students have already completed their high school education program. This specialized program provides vocational training and serves as a transitional phase before the students enter a community-based program. Students attend this program on a full time basis. Along with job training, students learn social and work-related skills that will assist them as they enter the work world. Students leave this vocational transition program when their transition needs are met or at the age of 21.
