DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Douglas County West Community Middle School establishes academic, social, emotional, and activity goals for each student to help him/her achieve success during their middle level education. This is accomplished through Pride, an adviser-advisee program, in which each student is assigned adult mentors throughout their four years at the middle school. DC West's 5th and 6th grades are self-contained classrooms allowing developmental cross-curricular opportunities. DC West's 7th and 8th grades incorporate a nine period structure. Interdisciplinary team teachers meet daily to collaborate with one another to develop plans to address individual needs. This allows for more consistency in classroom procedures, coordinated efforts in solving student problems, and the opportunity to build strong community relationships among students, parents, and administrators.
