Douglas County West Elementary School consists of highly qualified staff serving a growing population of students K-4. In addition, DC West maintains a strong preschool program. We are in our second year of being one of ten sights within the learning community to partnership with the Buffet Early Childhood Institute. The goal of this partnership is to improve learning for birth through grade four. DC West makes a commitment to pursue excellence. Researched based programs enhancing student learning include: Read Well, Mastering Math Facts, Four Square Writing, Six Trait Writing, and Curriculum Mapping. DC West elementary also engages in response to intervention strategies, to meet individual student needs. DC West Elementary has been the recipient of Nebraska’s National Title I Distinguished School Award in 2009-2010 and in 2014-2015. For the 2015-2016 school year, we are proud to announce that DC West Elementary has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.
