Douglas County West Elementary School consists of highly qualified staff serving a growing population of students Birth to 5th Grade. DC West has a strong early childhood program. The goal of this partnership is to intervene early and improve learning for birth through age eight. Researched based programs enhancing student learning to meet individual student needs is embedded in every grade level along with one to one iPad technology. DC West Elementary was the recipient of Nebraska’s National Title I Distinguished School Award in 2009-2010 & in 2014-2015. In 2015-2016, DC West was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. The arts are a strength at DC West Elementary as they were awarded the opportunity to be a Disney Musical in Schools site by the Omaha Performing Arts and continue to host an annual musical. DC West Elementary recently opened a new school building in the Fall of 2019 that houses four sections per grade level.
