DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Bennington Elementary School is a growing PK-6 program with 456 students. All grade levels are 3 sections. The primary grades offer a strong developmental approach to learning in a self-contained classroom. The intermediate grades are self-contained, yet they introduce the departmentalized concept through science and social studies. The upper-elementary grades include departmentalized instruction for social studies and science. All students receive instruction in PE, Spanish, music, art and guidance. Instrumental music instruction is available for students in grades 5-6. The staff includes a full-time reading specialist, speech pathologist, and resource teachers. A special needs preschool program is included in the instructional program. In the Fall of 2005, a before-school and after-school day-care program was added. Many extra-curricular opportunities in academics and athletics are available.
