DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Bennington Elementary School is a growing PK-6 program with 463 students. Half the grade levels are 3 sections while the other half are 4 sections. The primary grades offer a strong developmental approach to learning in a self-contained classroom. The intermediate grades are self-contained, yet they introduce the departmentalized concept through science and social studies. The upper-elementary grades include departmentalized instruction for social studies and science. All students receive instruction in PE, Spanish, music, art, library, technology, and guidance. Instrumental music instruction is available for students in grades 5-6. The staff includes a full-time reading specialist, speech pathologist, and resource teachers. A special needs preschool program is included in the instructional program. In the Fall of 2005, a before-school and after-school day-care program was added. Many extra-curricular opportunities in academics and athletics are available.
