DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Heritage Elementary School opened in 2012 and provides a K-5 program for 425 students. Most grades have four sections with second and fifth grades having three sections. The primary grades offer a strong developmental approach to learning in a self-contained classroom. The intermediate grades are self-contained, yet they introduce the departmentalized concept through science and social studies. All students receive instruction in PE, Spanish, music, art, library, technology, and guidance. Instrumental music instruction is available for students in grades 5. The staff includes a reading specialist, speech pathologist, and resource teachers. A before-school and after-school day-care program was opened with the new building. Many extra-curricular opportunities in academics and athletics are available.
