DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Oakdale Elementary’s mission is to ensure academic excellence and to serve the unique needs of all learners. Oakdale School is one of the three original schools that came together to form District 66, Westside Schools in 1947. Before that time, Oakdale was a community center and one room schoolhouse dating to 1869. In 1927, the larger old section was added and Oakdale became a K-8 school. There was a library, primary room and intermediate room. When Omaha moved westward, and the neighborhood grew, and a new school was constructed in stages during the 1950s. Thanks to the generosity and support of District 66, Westside Community Schools built and opened the current Oakdale Elementary in January of 2017. This state of the art building pays homage to and sits on the same site as the original Oakdale constructed in 1869. In 2019, Oakdale celebrated its Sesquicentennial, honoring the 150 years Oakdale has been educating students.
