DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Shickley is located in Fillmore County, 15 miles southwest of Geneva, the county seat. Hastings is 50 miles north and west, York is 40 miles north and east, and Lincoln is 80 miles north and east. It is a farming community in the heart of the irrigation district. The school district comprises 140 square miles in area, extending into Thayer and Clay counties. It is a stable community with the result of an enrollment of about 14 students per grade on average. Shickley ranks in Class D by the Nebraska School Activities Association. The district was reorganized in 1953. The gym, shop and elementary wing were built in 1954. The cafeteria was added in 1961. The newest elementary rooms and music room were built in 1964, and the Agricultural Education Shop and North Gym were built in 1977. In the spring of 1999, the Distance Learning room, Special Education room, and weight room were completed.
